Over 25 years ago Allen Patterson-Sterling was Ordained as a Non-Denominational Minister. Allen made a conscious decision upon accepting his appointment to be a Non-Denominational Minister, after watching some of the (extremely judgmental and condemning comments from some more self righteous clergy) against those that had been sexually abused or were of a minority status, or had sex out of wedlock. Working with all populations, unless you are willing to “Meet People Where They Are At”™, they will quickly shut down and not let you in. Allen has always had a theory that you should challenge authority and find out what works for you. He quickly found this to be a well supported theory when he completed his eleven week Graduate Study Program called Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Hospice. There Allen quickly found that it was critical to “Meet to meet people where they are at”™, not to go in with your own agenda.
Allen has a love for learning and as such has never stopped. He continues to advance his talents and skills ever year. Allen's professional experience includes experience in hospitals, group homes, crisis counseling and in private practice. He also has extensive experience as a Group Facilitator and Corporate Trainer. He has worked as a Clinical Director of a Chronic Pain Program. He has also worked in various positions in Clinical Research from (Phase 1-lV) starting out as a Psycho-Metric Rater, then becoming a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) and finally working up to become a Project Manager at University of California San Diego (UCSD) and then earning the distinction of a Nationally Certified Clinical Research Professional. He has also co-authored works in clinical research that were internationally published. He spent over six years as a Volunteer Male Advocate as part of San Diego County's S.A.R.T. (Sexual Assault Response Team). He has worked in The Emergency Medical Field and with Home Bound Terminally Ill people. He is an experienced Domestic Relations Mediator, Community Mediator, Small Claims Mediation and FED Mediator (Forced Eviction Detainee). He has used his extensive training and experience as a Professional Hypnotherapist to conduct Visualization and Relaxation Seminars for those dealing with Chronic and Terminal illnesses.
He continues to make a conscious choice to focus on being a Non-Denominational Minister allowing him to use a "MEET PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE AT"™ approach. He beliefs this makes him a better minister for God. He has practiced this philosophy since becoming Ordained over Twenty-Five years ago.
Weddings
Reverend Dr. Allen Patterson-Sterling has had the Blessing of Officiating at hundreds of Weddings since becoming Ordained as a Non-Denominational minister in 1987. He will travel to the location of your choice in beautiful *Pacific Northwest to perform your personalized wedding ceremony.
